The year 2012 has been a great year for the automobile sector as most of the car companies managed to improve their sales and profit in the previous year. Some of the auto makers believe that they have managed to get more consumers because of the kind of cars that they had revealed in most of the auto shows. Today, auto shows have become the best platform for car makers to showcase some of the vehicles that they would like to launch in the market. It offers them with options and information on how the consumers responded to certain car models that they have on display. Let’s take a quick look at some of the top auto shows for the year 2012 that made lot of news and buzz in the market.

2012 North American International Auto Show – Detroit

This annual auto show is one of the largest auto shows in the United States and also in the world. Some of the top auto companies decided to participate in this event. Nissan was one of the auto companies that return to the event after a gap of three years. While some of the top American auto companies displayed their top production cars, some of the Japanese car makers stole the limelight with some unique and interesting car options that attracted buyers. Eventually, it was Hyundai Elantra that won the North American Car of the Year Award at the event while Range Rover Evoque that won the North American Truck of the Year Award. The much anticipated Lexus LF-LC won the EyesOn Design Award for Excellence in Design.

Another automobile show that gains a lot of buzz in the market is Chicago Auto Show and like every year some of the top American car brands were on the show to showcase some of the top cars that they have under their belt. The show was held from February 10 to February 19. However, like North American International Auto Show, the presence of Japanese car makers like Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen was dominant indicating that the Asian car companies were invading the American market aggressively.

Hosted annually at the Geneva Palexpo the 82nd International Geneva Motor Show saw tough competition between various Asian and European car makers that decided to roll out some of their new cars that were designed for European buyers. Audi, BMW, Peugeot, Lexus, Renault and Hyundai came up with some of their top cars that were at display for the car enthusiasts.

This annual car exhibition remains one of the biggest car shows in North America making it one of the most popular and talked about auto shows in the world. The LA Auto Show debut 16 cars from around the world while it also had 19 North American cars that were being displayed for the first time ever. There were 9 concept cars that also made their debut at the event making it one of the popular auto shows in the world.
