The 2014 Ram ProMaster is a full size van offered by Chrysler at the Chicago auto show. This is a front wheel drive unibody van and is based on the European market Fiat Ducato. The Chrysler offered the new Ram ProMaster in three different lengths for wheelbase (118”, 136”, 159”), two variable roof heights (90” or 101”), decent chassis and four different overall length options.

Bodywork, styling and Specifications

The new 2014 Ram ProMaster is offering dual side sliding doors, three different choices of floor covering, enormous wraparound bumper and the Ram logo is placed in the middle of crosshair grille. You cannot praise the Ram ProMaster for styling and look however, it is able to deliver the comfort, space and reliability that a commercial van must have.

The interior of the van is composed and is able to transport big amount of goods from one station to another. The ProMaster is offering an impressive cargo space of 5,145 lbs and when you properly and completely load it, it can deliver 5,100 lbs towing. The doors are large that are making the entry and exit easy.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2014 Ram ProMaster employs either “PentaStar” 3.6 liter V6 engine that delivers a handsome 280 horsepower and a torque of 260 lb ft and will be mated with traditional automatic transmission or a 3.0 liter Fiat 4 cylinder Turbo diesel engine that sprints out 174 horsepower and 295 pound feet of torque. The engine will be mated with an automated manual transmission.

Safety Features

The best point of the 2014 Ram ProMaster is that it adds a couple of very serious and impressive safety features including a total of six airbags, driver, front passenger, side curtain and seat mounted side pelvic thorax, electronic stability control, traction control, hill start assist, antilock brake system, park view rear backup camera and trailer sway control.

Price and Key Rivals

The key rivals of the 2014 Ram ProMaster are Ford E-series, Mercedes Benz Sprinter, Chevrolet express and Nissan NV 2500. The price is not announced yet but it is expected that the 2014 Ram ProMaster will cost you something between $26,000 to $30,000 like its key competitors.

The 2014 Ram ProMaster is a good addition to the segment of commercial van, though it is not as appealing as other vans but it can deliver something extra for its owners as it has a cargo space offered in a single part.
