When it comes to “Ferrari”, the first thing that comes in our imagination is an elegant, stylish and appealing sports car with the traditional high performance and luxury. Ferrari is not a new name for the car lovers and there are lots of different models available in the market and over the last three years one of the models received an utmost popularity known as Ferrari California. This is the first ever car from Maranello with front eight cylinder GT engine. Maranello introduced a new 2013 Ferrari California with increase power and decreased weight.

Exterior

The new 2013 Ferrari California is a convertible and has a traditional aggressive look and has stolen lots of cues from the original car. You will notice rear wheel arches similar to the 250GT, a bit higher rear deck, a wide bonnet vent, the three key roof sections are replaced with two key roof sections, top mounted taillights and the car sit on standard 19 inch aluminium wheels.

Interior

The cabin of the new 2013 Ferrari California is almost similar to other Ferrari models. This is a 4 seat car while the rear seats are perfect for kids only seats are leather trimmed. Other features include a luggage shelf, electronic hand-brake, gearbox and roof control, major control, analogue speedometer, dials and a very neat feel of the cabin. The cabin faced a bit of criticism because some parts of the cabin are finished with hard plastic. Similarly, the analogue speedometer is difficult to read.

Powertrain and Performance

The new 2013 Ferrari California has a 4.3 liter V8 engine fitted in the heart of this car that can produce 490 horsepower at 7,750rpm with a torque of 372 lb ft at 5,000rpm. The car is basically a rear wheel drive that displaces about 4297cc. The Powertrain of the car is mated with a dual clutch seven speed automated transmission box. The performance of the car is also very good and the engine can push the car from 0mph to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The fuel economy of the car is 13mpg city and 19mpg highway and has a CO2 emission of 6,850kg/year.

Safety

The 2013 Ferrari California has some good safety features including traction control, stability control, driver and front passenger seat belts, front and rear disc ABS brakes and four airbags.

Competitors

Though Ferrari has its own charm and brand recognition but still there are some other top notch automakers that are acting like potential rivals. The new 2013 Ferrari California has to compete with an Aston Martin V8 Roadster, Porsche 911 Turbo convertible and Audi V10 Spyder.
